1.Product Introduction Calcination Rotary Kiln

 

The Industrial-Grade Calcination Rotary Kiln is a continuous high-temperature thermal processing system specifically engineered for the heat treatment of Lithium-ion battery cathode material precursors (such as NCM, LFP, and LCO). It features an inclined rotating steel cylinder lined with refractory materials and composite ceramic liners, supporting both nitrogen and oxidizing atmosphere protection. The equipment operates within a rated temperature range of 500–1,200°C, equipped with a multi-zone resistance heating system that maintains a temperature control precision of ≤±2°C. The cylinder’s rotational speed is precisely regulated by a Variable Frequency Drive (VFD) to dynamically optimize material residence time. Integrated with a fully enclosed dynamic sealing system, off-gas treatment units, and a DCS intelligent control platform, it is ideal for the dehydration, phase transformation, and sintering processes of high-purity lithium battery materials.

 

 

2.Application Calcination Rotary Kiln

  • Cathode Material Synthesis: Used for the dehydration of LFP precursors (500–700°C) and high-temperature sintering of NCM materials (750–950°C) to achieve ordered crystalline structures.

  • Spodumene Conversion: Converting $alpha$-type spodumene to $beta$-type at 1,070–1,100°C to enhance the efficiency of subsequent sulfuric acid leaching for Lithium Carbonate production.

  • Battery Recycling (Black Mass): Pyrolyzing black mass in anoxic or inert atmospheres to remove organic binders and electrolyte residues, effectively enriching Lithium, Cobalt, and Nickel components.

  • Pilot Plants & R&D: Supporting the verification of laboratory-scale process parameters and providing critical thermal data for large-scale production scale-up.

 

3.Working Principle Calcination Rotary Kiln

 

1.Continuous Material Transport: Feedstock is introduced from the kiln tail. Guided by the kiln's inclination and rotation, materials are continuously tumbled and moved forward by internal lifters, ensuring uniform heat exposure and stable throughput.


2. Segmented Thermal Control:

  •  Preheating Zone: Utilizes waste heat from off-gases to dry the material and remove free water.
  • Calcination Zone: Facilitates dehydration, oxidation, phase transformation (e.g.,  spodumene), or solid-state reactions (e.g., ) at set temperatures.
  •  Cooling Zone: Employs counter-current cooling or inert gas quenching to stabilize the product structure and prevent secondary oxidation.


3. Synergistic Atmosphere & Temperature Regulation: Oxidizing atmospheres are used for organic removal, while nitrogen/argon prevents metal oxidation. AI algorithms automatically adjust temperature profiles and rotational speeds based on feed composition to ensure complete reaction while avoiding over-calcination.


4. Heat Exchange Mechanism: Through direct heating (gas/electric) or indirect conduction, the material maintains optimal contact with high-temperature gases, achieving a thermal efficiency of over 85%.
