1.Product Introduction Calcination Rotary Kiln

 

The Titanium Dioxide Calcination Rotary Kiln is the core thermal engineering equipment used in both the sulfate and chloride processes of titanium dioxide production. It is specifically designed for the high-temperature treatment of hydrolyzed metatitanic acid filter cakes to complete the processes of dehydration, desulfurization, and crystalline phase transformation (from Anatase to Rutile), ultimately producing high-purity titanium dioxide pigments.

 

 

2.Application Calcination Rotary Kiln


1. Titanium Dioxide Production (Pigment Grade)
Over 90% of the world's pigment-grade  is produced via rotary kiln calcination (Sulfate Process). It serves as the premier white pigment and opacifier for:

  • Coatings & Paints: Providing high "hiding power" and weather resistance for architectural and automotive coatings.
  • Plastics & Polymers: Preventing yellowing and enhancing opacity in PVC, PE, and specialized engineering plastics.
  • Inks, Paper, & Rubber: Used for high-brightness printing, premium bleached paper, and durable rubber compounds.

2. Advanced Functional Materials
Precision calcination allows for the production of specialized  variants:

  •  Cosmetics & Personal Care: Providing non-toxic, high-UV-shielding properties for sunscreens and foundation.
  •  Industrial Consumables: Serving as a critical component in welding electrode coatings to stabilize the arc and improve slag fluidity.
  •  Specialty Ceramics: Used as a raw material for 3D-printed ceramics and high-performance photocatalysts for air and water purification.

3.Working Principle Calcination Rotary Kiln

  • Material Transport & Tumbling: The wet metatitanic acid filter cake enters from the kiln tail. As the cylinder rotates, internal lifting flights (lifters) repeatedly lift and shower the material through the hot gas stream, ensuring maximum surface area exposure and uniform heat exchange.
  • Precision Temperature Gradient Control:
    • Drying Zone (200–400°C): Removal of free moisture and a portion of the chemically bound water.
    • Desulfurization Zone (400–600°C): Decomposition of residual sulfate impurities, releasing  gas to ensure chemical purity.
    • Phase Transformation Zone (600–800°C): The critical transition where Anataseconverts to Rutile. This stage determines the final product's optical properties and UV weather resistance.
    • Sintering Zone (800–1,000°C): Particles undergo controlled growth and sintering to form dense, high-refractive-index rutile crystals.
  •  Counter-Current Heat Exchange: Clean thermal energy (860–1,000°C) from the combustion chamber is injected from the kiln head. Moving in the opposite direction of the material, this counter-current flow creates high-efficiency convective heat transfer, maximizing thermal utilization.
  • Off-gas Management: Calcination exhaust gases pass through Electrostatic Precipitators (ESP) and Waste Heat Recovery (WHR) boilers to recapture energy and remove dust before discharge, achieving a synergy between energy savings and environmental compliance.

  •   Full Process Automation: Integrated with a DCS (Distributed Control System), the kiln automatically adjusts rotational speed, feed rates, fuel ratios, and internal atmosphere, minimizing manual intervention and enhancing operational stability.
