1.Product Introduction
The structure of a rotary kiln consists of the shell (cylinder), bearings, support rollers (riding rollers), and the drive unit.
Shell (Cylinder): The shell is the main body of the entire rotary kiln, typically constructed from welded steel plates and lined with refractory materials to withstand high-temperature and high-pressure sintered materials.
Bearings: These are key components that support the rotation of the shell. Rolling bearings are generally used to reduce friction, ensuring smoother rotation.
Support Rollers: These components support the bearings and are usually made of steel to provide the necessary load-bearing capacity.
Drive Unit: This part drives the rotation of the shell and typically consists of a motor, reducer (gearbox), and coupling.
2.Application
It is mainly applied in the building materials, metallurgy, chemical, and environmental protection industries for the calcination, roasting, or chemical treatment of solid materials.
3.Working Principle
A rotary kiln operates through a combination of processes, including gas flow, fuel combustion, heat transfer, and material movement. It ensures complete fuel combustion and the efficient transfer of heat to the materials. Upon absorbing this heat, the materials undergo a series of physical and chemical changes, eventually forming the final product
4.Advantages
The main body of the rotary kiln is rolled from high-quality carbon steel or alloy steel plates, lined with refractory materials. It features large-clearance sliding bearings, a hard-tooth surface gear reducer, and a hydraulic thrust roller system. These components effectively reduce vibration and wear, ensuring long-term stability for continuous operation.
The kiln can process a variety of materials, including lean iron ore, chromite-nickel ore, bauxite, lime, cement raw meal, sludge, zinc oxide, and refractory materials. It is particularly effective in metallurgical processes such as the magnetizing roasting of lean iron ore and the oxidative roasting of ferronickel ore.
Utilizing advanced sealing technologies like scale-type overlapping seals and cylinder-pressed seals, the system effectively prevents air leakage and dust escape. This reduces heat loss and environmental pollution, meeting modern green production requirements.
Modern rotary kilns are commonly equipped with automated control systems, such as AI-based "Intelligent Kiln Temperature Control" for temperature prediction and regulation. These systems enable precise temperature control, remote monitoring, and intelligent decision-making, reducing manual intervention while enhancing safety and energy efficiency.
Materials roll circumferentially and move axially within the inclined rotating shell, ensuring continuous and uniform calcination. This leads to high unit capacity, making it ideal for large-scale industrial production.
Wet process rotary kilns convert raw materials into slurry with 30%–40% water content, which effectively homogenizes the components. This process offers strong adaptability to heterogeneous raw materials, resulting in stable clinker quality, high strength, and lower dust emissions.
