1.Product Introduction
The rotary drum dryer is a continuous drying system widely utilized in industrial sectors, primarily for the dehydration and drying of bulk materials in mining, chemicals, building materials, and agriculture.
Its core structure features a horizontal rotating cylinder slightly inclined to the horizontal plane. Inside the cylinder, staggered lifters (also known as lifting flights or internal shovels) are welded. During operation, the drum rotates slowly via gear transmission (typically at speeds between 2-6 rpm). Materials are fed from the higher end; under the influence of gravity and the lifting action of the flights, the materials are continuously raised and showered through the hot air stream. This ensures thorough contact for efficient moisture evaporation and material drying.
2.Application
The rotary drum dryer is a continuous drying equipment widely used in mining, chemicals, building materials, and other industries. It achieves high-efficiency dewatering through the rotation of the shell, ensuring thorough contact between the materials and the hot air stream, with large processing capacity and ease of operation.
Mainly Applicable Materials
Mineral Ores: Includes magnetic, gravity, and flotation concentrates of both metallic and non-metallic minerals, such as iron, copper, and gold ore concentrates.
Coal Industry Materials: Particularly suitable for drying high-moisture and highly viscous materials like coal slime and coal washing tailings.
Construction Raw Materials: Such as clay, shale, and limestone used in the pre-treatment process of cement clinker production.
Chemical & Industrial Granules: Applicable to granular or powdery materials in chemical, metallurgical, and building material industries, including polyacrylamide, gypsum, mineral slag, and furnace slag.
Other Materials: Can also be used for drying plastic flakes, sand, and sludge. Specific drying requirements for different moisture contents can be met by adjusting operating parameters (e.g., temperature and retention time).
Material Property Requirements
Form: Most suitable for granular, lump, or flake materials with a particle size of 2~30mm. Caution or pre-treatment is required for ultra-fine powders due to low porosity and uneven ventilation, which may cause high resistance and dust emission.
Moisture Content: Capable of handling high-moisture materials with a wet-basis moisture content up to 70%~75%, such as coal slime and certain chemical products.
Flowability: Materials must possess a certain degree of solid flowability to prevent adhesion or clogging at the feeding inlet.
3.Working Principle
Material and Heat Source Introduction
Wet materials are transported to the hopper via a belt conveyor or bucket elevator, then enter the higher end of the drum through a feeding pipe. Simultaneously, hot air or flue gas (as the drying medium) is introduced from the lower end (counter-current) or the higher end (co-current) of the drum.
Drum Rotation and Material Agitation
The drum is installed at an inclination angle of 1° to 5° relative to the horizontal plane and rotates at a speed of 2–6 r/min via gear transmission. Interleaved lifting flights (lifters) are welded to the inner wall of the drum. As the drum rotates, the flights continuously scoop and shower the materials, forming a uniform "material curtain" inside the drum while slowly moving them toward the discharge end.
Heat Exchange and Drying
As the materials move from the higher end to the lower end, they undergo thorough contact and heat exchange with the counter-current (or co-current) hot air flow. The moisture in the material evaporates upon heating, achieving the drying effect. The counter-current mode (where air and material move in opposite directions) provides a higher average temperature gradient, generally resulting in superior drying efficiency.
Product Discharge and Exhaust Treatment
Dried materials are discharged from the lower end of the drum and transported away by a belt or screw conveyor. The exhaust gas, carrying water vapor, is expelled from the feed end and typically passes through a cyclone dust collector and bag filter for purification to meet environmental protection standards.
