Rotary kiln for industrial sludge drying and calcination
1.Product Introduction Calcination Rotary Kiln
The Industrial Sludge Drying and Calcination Rotary Kiln is a high-efficiency thermal processing unit specifically designed for high-moisture and high-viscosity wastes, including municipal, industrial, and construction sludges. Featuring a horizontal rotating structure, the equipment achieves sludge drying, incineration, volume reduction, and resource conversion through high-temperature calcination. The kiln shell is fabricated from rolled steel plates and lined with high-grade refractory materials. Integrated with drive assemblies, combustion systems, sealing structures, and intelligent control systems, it ensures stable operation and high thermal efficiency. It is a core technology for the "Four-R" treatment goal (Reduction,Rendering harmless, Stabilization, and Resource recovery).
2.Application Calcination Rotary Kiln
Municipal & Industrial Wastewater Treatment: Processing bulk wet sludge from urban WWTPs and industrial wastewater facilities to slash disposal costs.
Hazardous Waste Co-processing: High-temperature detoxification of oily sludge, electroplating sludge, and pharmaceutical sludge.
Soil Remediation: Removing organic pollutants and pathogens from contaminated soil through high-temperature calcination for land reuse.
Building Material Valorization: Utilizing incinerated sludge ash to produce expanded clay pebbles (ceramsite), cement additives, or lightweight construction materials.
Energy Recovery: Capturing thermal energy from sludge incineration for waste heat power generation or district heating.
3.Working Principle Calcination Rotary Kiln
1.Pre-treatment & Feeding: Sludge is first mechanically dewatered to a moisture content of 70%–85%, then further dried to 30%–35%. It is then continuously fed into the kiln inlet via a screw feeder.
2. Rotational Drying & Calcination: The kiln shell, inclined at 1°–3°, rotates at 1–5 rpm. Sludge tumbles continuously, ensuring maximum contact with high-temperature flue gases as it moves through drying, pyrolysis, combustion, and cooling phases.

4. Secondary Combustion (SCC): Flue gas from the kiln enters a Secondary Combustion Chamber, staying at >1,100°C for over 2 seconds to ensure complete oxidation of combustible components and compliance with emission standards.
5. Ash Discharge & Heat Recovery: Solid residues are discharged and cooled for reuse. Flue gas waste heat is recaptured to preheat combustion air or dry incoming sludge, optimizing energy efficiency.
