1.Product Introduction Rotary drum dryer
The Rotary Dryer is a critical piece of equipment in power plant alternative fuel production lines. It is primarily used to dry raw materials such as biomass and solid waste, reducing their moisture content to meet the technical requirements for subsequent pelletizing, gasification, or direct combustion.
2.Application Rotary drum dryer
Alternative fuels used in power plants come from diverse sources, most of which require a drying stage during pre-treatment. The rotary dryer is suitable for the following typical materials:
Biomass Fuels: Such as sawdust, straw, and empty fruit bunches (EFB). These materials naturally have a high moisture content, leading to low and unstable direct combustion efficiency. Drying them significantly increases their net calorific value (NCV) and improves combustion performance.
Refuse-Derived Fuels (RDF/SRF): Including shredded municipal solid waste (MSW) and industrial waste. Drying helps stabilize the chemical composition of the waste and enhances its suitability as a high-grade fuel.
Other Solid Fuels: Such as petroleum coke. Drying ensures combustion reliability when these materials are used as backup energy sources.
3.Working Principle Rotary drum dryer
A rotary dryer typically consists of a slightly inclined, rotating cylindrical shell.
Material Flow: Wet materials enter from the higher end of the drum and move toward the lower end due to the drum's rotation and inclination.
Internal Mechanism: The internal walls are equipped with lifting flights (paddles) that lift and shower the material as the drum rotates.
Heat Exchange: This action creates a "material curtain," ensuring thorough contact with the thermal medium (usually hot flue gas or hot air) flowing through the drum. This facilitates high-efficiency moisture evaporation, after which the dried material is discharged from the lower end.
4.Advantages Rotary drum dryer
Thermal Value Optimization: Rotary dryers effectively reduce the raw moisture content of alternative fuels—for example, lowering sludge or biomass moisture from 30%–50% to below 10%—thereby dramatically increasing the fuel’s net calorific value (NCV).
Combustion Efficiency: Dried fuel burns more completely and steadily within the boiler. This minimizes energy loss caused by incomplete combustion and directly boosts the overall thermal efficiency of the power plant.
Advanced Heat Recovery: Dryers utilizing a Triple-Pass design recycle waste heat through multi-stage heat exchange. This can save up to 30% in energy compared to traditional single-drum dryers, significantly lowering fuel costs per unit of electricity generated.
