1.Product Introduction Rotary drum dryer
The High Calorific Value RDF (Refuse-Derived Fuel) Rotary Drum Dryer is a critical piece of equipment specifically designed to process municipal solid waste into high-energy, low-moisture fuel. Through an efficient thermal drying process, it significantly boosts the combustion caloric value of RDF, ensuring it meets the stringent fuel quality requirements for energy recovery applications, such as co-processing in cement kilns and power generation.
2.Application Rotary drum dryer
This equipment is primarily used in the solid waste resource recovery sector, including:
RDF Preparation: Drying sorted and shredded municipal waste or other combustible solid waste to reduce moisture content and increase Calorific Value (CV). This produces RDF products that meet specific quality standards (size, heat value, moisture, chlorine, sulfur, and ash content).
Energy Recovery (WtE): High calorific RDF serves as an alternative fuel for cement production, co-processing in coal-fired power plants, or dedicated Waste-to-Energy (WtE) facilities.
Other Compatible Materials: The design is also adaptable for drying materials like slag, coal powder, and clay, though RDF-specific models are optimized for complex compositions and potential corrosiveness.
3.Working Principle Rotary drum dryer
The core operation of this equipment is based on the mechanical rotation of a drum coupled with convective heat and mass transfer from hot air.
Structure and Motion: The main body is a horizontal steel cylinder (rotary drum) set at a slight incline (typically 1° to 5°). Driven by a transmission system, the drum rotates at a low speed (usually 3–25 rpm). Wet RDF material is continuously fed into the higher end (inlet).
Material Agitation and Conveyance: The internal walls are equipped with various types of lifting flights (shoveling plates). As the drum rotates, these flights lift the material to a certain height before showering it back down, creating a uniform "material curtain." This action exponentially increases the contact surface area between the material and the hot air while gravity and the drum’s incline slowly migrate the material toward the lower end (discharge).
Hot Air Contact and Drying: Hot air (or flue gas) is introduced into the drum in either a co-current or counter-current flow. As it passes through the falling curtain of material, an intense exchange of heat and mass occurs. The moisture in the RDF (primarily surface water) evaporates into steam and is carried away with the exhaust gas, leaving the high calorific value dried RDF to be discharged at the bottom.
