Center Driving Thickener
1.Product Introduction
The center-driven thickener is a deep-layer distribution and agitation device driven by an electric motor or hydraulic motor via a central transmission mechanism, equipped with manual or automatic rake lifting functions. Its structure primarily includes a bridge frame, transmission device, flow stabilizing barrel (or central column), rake frame, and hydraulic station or electrical control system.
2.Application
Its applications are extensive, primarily covering the following fields:
Mining and Metallurgy: In mineral processing plants, used to concentrate flotation, magnetic separation, or gravity separation concentrates or tailings slurry, providing high-concentration underflow for filtration.
Coal Industry: In coal preparation plants, used to concentrate coal slurry for recovering fine coal particles and clarifying water for reuse.
Chemical and Environmental Protection: In wastewater treatment and chemical production processes, used for settling and concentrating suspended solids.
3.Working Principle
The operating principle of the center-driven thickener is based on gravitational settling. Slurry enters the bottom of the thickening tank through a central feed pipe. Within the tank, solid particles slowly settle to the bottom under gravity, forming a thickened layer. A rotating rake frame (rake arms) mounted at the lower end of the drive shaft rotates slowly, gently scraping the settled solids (underflow) toward the discharge outlet at the tank center for removal. The clarified upper liquid (overflow) then spills over the overflow weir around the tank periphery. When the rake frame encounters excessive resistance, the lifting mechanism can automatically or manually raise the frame to prevent equipment damage.
