1.Product Introduction

A Rotary Drum Dryer for sawdust is a highly efficient, high-capacity drying system specifically designed to handle fine, lightweight wood waste. Raw sawdust often has a moisture content of 40%–50%, which makes it prone to rot and unsuitable for processing. This dryer utilizes a rotating drum and continuous hot airflow to quickly reduce moisture levels down to 10%–15%, turning raw waste into premium raw material.


2.Application

  • Wood Pellet & Briquette Production: Essential pre-treatment drying of wood chips before they are ground and compressed into premium biomass pellets.

  • Particleboard & MDF Manufacturing: Preparing uniform, dry wood fibers for the production of medium-density fiberboards (MDF), particleboards, and OSB.

  • Biomass Power Plants: Drying wood chips used as a direct fuel source to boost combustion efficiency and reduce boiler emissions.

  • Gasification: Providing dry, high-quality wood feedstock for biomass gasifiers to maximize synthetic gas yield.

3.Working Principle

The dryer operates on a continuous, tightly sealed heat exchange mechanism:

  • Feeding: Wet coal is continuously fed into the slightly inclined, rotating cylindrical drum.

  • Cascading & Drying: Internal lifting flights and chains lift the coal and shower it through the hot air stream. This constant movement breaks up clumps and creates a uniform curtain of coal, allowing rapid heat transfer and moisture evaporation.

  • Discharge & Safety Control: The dried coal slides to the lower discharge end. An induced draft fan pulls the moist air out through a cyclone and baghouse filter to capture fine coal dust. Safety systems, such as inert gas injection or explosion relief valves, are often integrated to manage combustible coal dust safely.
