1.Product Introduction

  • A Rotary Drum Dryer for coal is heavy-duty thermal processing equipment designed to reduce the moisture content of various types of coal (including brown coal, lignite, coal slime, and bituminous coal). High moisture reduces coal's heating value and increases transportation costs. This dryer efficiently removes both surface and inherent moisture, upgrading the coal into a high-value, highly combustible fuel.


2.Application

  • Power Plants & Steel Mills: Drying coal before pulverization to improve combustion efficiency and reduce boiler fuel consumption.

  • Coal Gasification & Coking: Preparing dry coal feedstocks to ensure stable chemical reactions and high-quality coke production.

  • Coal Slime Utilization: Transforming wet, sticky coal washing by-products (coal slime) into usable briquettes or fuel.

3.Working Principle

The dryer operates on a continuous, tightly sealed heat exchange mechanism:

  • Feeding: Wet coal is continuously fed into the slightly inclined, rotating cylindrical drum.

  • Cascading & Drying: Internal lifting flights and chains lift the coal and shower it through the hot air stream. This constant movement breaks up clumps and creates a uniform curtain of coal, allowing rapid heat transfer and moisture evaporation.

  • Discharge & Safety Control: The dried coal slides to the lower discharge end. An induced draft fan pulls the moist air out through a cyclone and baghouse filter to capture fine coal dust. Safety systems, such as inert gas injection or explosion relief valves, are often integrated to manage combustible coal dust safely.
